About the Author
Uche Lynn-Teresa Ugwueze is the prized
only daughter of Raymond and Janet
Okafor. She has worked as a Continuity
Announcer (on Radio and Television),
Producer and Disc Jockey with the Cross
River Radio, Calabar, Nigeria and the
Enugu Broadcasting Service also in
Nigeria. She has equally taught at both
college and university levels in Africa
and the United States. She presently
teaches English and Africana Literature
in the Department of Africana
Studies, California State University,
Long Beach, California. With a nurtured
mind in a spare frame, she was propelled
from one early school success to
another. She had a distinguished
secondary education at the Sedes
Sapientiae Girls College, Oghe, Enugu,
Nigeria, graduating in 1981 as the
overall best student. She then proceeded
to the University of Nigeria where she
earned the Bachelor of Arts degree in
Education English, the Master of Arts in
English (Modern African Literature) and
the Doctorate degree in English
(African, African American and Caribbean
Literature). She is the author of
several articles and books among which
are Wet in the Sun (novel) The Blunt
Blade (novel) and Tears Without Cry
(novel) Dr. Ugwueze lives in Los Angeles
California with her husband and three
children.
